Jazz, Pacers square off in Salt Lake City
Basketball Betting Lines
12/04/2009 -
(Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Utah Jazz return to the hardwood at EnergySolutions
Arena tonight sporting a three-game winning streak and a coach that signed a
one-year extension.
The Jazz hope to continue their winning ways against the struggling Indiana Pacers.
Jerry Sloan, professional sports' most tenured mentor, who is in his 22nd
season coaching the Jazz, agreed to a one-year extension Wednesday that will
keep him with the team through at least 2010-11.
"I am very appreciative of the opportunity the Miller family has given me, and
the fact that they have stood behind me for more than 20 years," Sloan told
the team's Web site. "Our team has tremendous potential and I look forward to
watching them grow."
That potential was flashed on Monday when Carlos Boozer tallied 24 points,
pulled down 15 rebounds and dished out seven assists as Utah crushed the
Memphis Grizzlies, 120-93.
Deron Williams added 22 points and six assists for the Jazz, who have won six
of seven and improved to 4-1 on a six-game homestand. Ronnie Brewer had a
season-high 25 points on 11-of-16 shooting, and Wesley Matthews contributed 17
points and five assists in the win.
"I think a lot of (our efficient shooting) has to do with (the fact that)
we're trying to share the basketball," said Sloan. "When you do that, you get
better shots. When you come down and just take shots, it's tough to get the
offensive rebound, and you end having to fight to get back on defense."
The Pacers, meanwhile, continue to struggle and fell to 0-2 on a four-game
road trip Wednesday in Sacramento when rookie star Tyreke Evans scored 26
points and the Kings held off Indiana, 110-105.
Danny Granger went 6-of-11 from beyond the arc, on the way to a 33-point night
for the Pacers, who have lost three straight and seven of their last eight
games. Dahntay Jones and Earl Watson had 16 and 15 points, respectively, while
Jeff Foster equaled a career-high with 18 rebounds.
"We just have to keep working and playing our style of basketball," said
Jones. "We're eventually going to crack this, get a win and some motivation to
push us forward."
Indiana has dropped three straight against Utah and three in a row in Salt
Lake City.

American Idol odds : Blake Lewis the Early Standout
An important American Idol betting lines recap from February 20 Guys episode. The 12 men came out flat overall with Blake Lewis appearing to have the early edge after the first hour and a half.
Rudy - was quite good singing "Free Ride" to start off. Randy was not impressed though. Paula thought he started off fantastic. "Never had anyone stop off so lively" said Paula but Simon (who does not like Rudy) does not feel he has a distinct voice and was not impressed either.
Brandon was a little pitchy according to Randy and Paula agreed. Simon said he was a good singer but the song was "too safe" and he needs to make an impact. He was listed at +1200 odds or $1200 paid out on a $100 bet should he win the competition.
Big favorite Sundance came in with a flat version of "Knights in White Satin" and the judges let him have it, including Paula. Randy claimed the song was out of pitch throughout.
Korean American - and a Jenny Woo favorite - Paul Kim was up next. Another pitchy flat one but Randy said he still liked his potential. Kim at +3000 odds was said to have sung a "third rate version of that (George Michael) song" according to Simon Cowell. He sang "Careless Whisper".
22 year old Chris Richardson was up next. He was listed with +1100 odds coming in. He got the best response from the judges though Simon did not believe the vocal was that great.
Nick was boring and pitchy. Simon didn't think he was that bad though and predicted he would be back next week. Nick Pedro was a big +3000 dog coming into this competition.
Beat boxer Blake Lewis was listed with early +1000 odds or $1000 payout on a $100 bet if he were to become the next American Idol winner odds . These of course were the early odds. He was considered original for picking an "odd song". He did not beat box and the judges felt it was the best vocal of the night.
Sanjaya came in as the second biggest favorite after Chris Sligh but his performance Tuesday night was not very good.
Chris Sleigh was the early favorite at +450 odds. Great voice and a great sense of humor. He's a real standout. Randy felt it was on point but maybe ahead of the chorus a little bit. Simon Cowell said he felt like he was in some "sort of weird student gig".
Jared Cotter followed. He was listed with +2000 odds early on to win the competition. The judges felt he needs to take more risks but looked good.
22-year old AJ Talbado, who has tried out for American Idol five times, was up next. "Kind of a theme park performance" said Simon. Though the judges felt he performed okay. Simon did feel AJ might be better than he originally thought.
Phil - this season's military favorite - came into this competition with +1200 odds to win the competition. He was the last to perform. He was certainly strong enough to get through this stage of the competition and perhaps the best one after a shaky start.
Tomorrow night, the ladies perform and I sure hope they do a better job than the boys. Check out all the American Idol betting odds here.

Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl Odds
Will he or won't he? Now that the Dallas Cowboys have a new head coach in Wade Phillips, the big question will be: Does Terrell Owens stay with the team.
Jerry Jones continues to suggest that Terrell Owens will remain with the team.
"I've said that he's back, he's here, he's under contract," Jones said. "In the interviews I've just been through (to hire a new coach), it was very clear to me how highly he's thought of and how much of an impact he had on our offensive success."
Just to be sure though, Terrell Owens cleared out his locker and removed his name plate.
Terrell Owens was among the Cowboys most productive players this past season, catching 85 passes for 1,180 yards and a league-best 13 touchdowns.
But T.O. is due a $3 million roster bonus in June, then a $5 million salary this season. Cutting him before then would save a lot of money and headaches.
Aside from the questions surrounding Terrell Owens, the oddsmakers at MySportsbook.com have concerns over starting quarterback Tony Romo's state of mind and whether he will remain a starting quarterback. It is also not known how players will adjust to new head coach, Wade Phillips.
Here are the football odds as seen at MySportsbook.com and subject to change after February 10, 2007 if not locked in prior to that date.
